CHARLES R. BENNETT, JR
Passed away on 4/7/2010 – Chuck was transferred to the University of San Francisco with congestive heart failure and suffered a heart attack while waiting for a heart transplant. Chuck was born 10/22/1951 in Williamsport, PA and grew up in Carpentersville, IL. He has been residing in Escalon, CA where he, his wife and step-son own an Almond Ranch for the past 10 years. Chuck has been working the past 20 years for the State of California in the Food Services department for the State Prison System. He was a 1969 graduate of Dundee High School. Chuck was also a veteran of the Viet Nam War era. Chuck was the oldest child of Charles “Dick” and Ann Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Mariana Bennett, his step-son, Eric Mendes, two grandchildren Kate and Jack, His sister, Debra (Steven) Rice of San Jose, CA and his brother, Marc (Kathy) Bennett of Salida, CA. He was laid to rest on Saturday 4/17/2010, in Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Oakdale, CA. next to his parents and grandparents. Chuck loved the Cubbies, Bears and Bulls and loved to golf.
Gerald J. (Gerry) Pasternak (Barb Ahle's husband)
LAKE IN THE HILLS – Gerald J. "Gerry" Pasternak, 59, of Lake in the Hills, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born April 7, 1951, in Chicago, to Mathew "Max" and Dorothy (Hadamik) Pasternak.
On June 27, 1975, he married Barbara Ahle. He was a lifelong resident of the Carpentersville – Lake in the Hills areas, and a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin. He was a former 30-year employee of Seigle's Building Center in Elgin. He was active in his children's sport programs, and he had a great love for hunting.
Survivors include his wife of almost 35 years, Barbara; their children, Jeremy of San Jose, Calif., and Angela (Rob Fletcher) of Dixon; his brother, Richard (Linda) of Crystal Lake; his sister, Dr. Donna Pasternak, DVM of Minnesota; his in-laws, Richard and Carolyn Ahle of Carpentersville; and many nieces and nephews, especially Jodie Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee, and from 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, until the Mass is celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin. Burial will follow in Dundee Township East Cemetery, East Dundee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
